Color 101: Hue’s on First
Color 101: Another in a series of basic understandings you should have about color, in order to more easily select paint color.
There are three main aspects to what we call color, Hue, Chroma, and Value. Hue’s on First.
Hue is simple – it’s the color name. What do we call the color? Blue, Red, Yellow, Purple, Green, Orange, Brown?
Black, White and Gray are considered achromatic, or having no hue.
But with all the others, Hue is how we first learned to describe color – by it’s name.
And since you need a paint color, you may already have an idea which hue you want in a space, or which hues you do not want. It’s a start, but you’re not home free yet.
Stay tuned to Color 101…
